Strict Party governance
從嚴(yán)治黨

“打虎”無(wú)禁區(qū)。黨的十八大以來(lái)，截至2016年底，中央紀(jì)委共立案審查中管干部240人，打破所謂“刑不上大夫”的猜想；

“拍蠅”零容忍。全國(guó)紀(jì)檢監(jiān)察機(jī)關(guān)給予紀(jì)律處分超過(guò)119萬(wàn)人，打破所謂“法不責(zé)眾”的觀(guān)念；

“獵狐”撒天網(wǎng)。從90多個(gè)國(guó)家和地區(qū)追回外逃人員近3000人，釋放“天網(wǎng)恢恢、雖遠(yuǎn)必追”的強(qiáng)烈信號(hào)。

治標(biāo)為治本贏(yíng)得時(shí)間，持續(xù)量變產(chǎn)生質(zhì)變。

Since the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress in 2012, the CPC Central Committee has dedicated itself to strict party governance.
自2012年黨的十八大以來(lái)，黨中央一直致力于從嚴(yán)治黨。

In the past five years, the CPC Central Committee has tirelessly addressed "si feng," or "the four forms of decadence" -- formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance.
在過(guò)去五年中，黨中央堅(jiān)持不懈地嚴(yán)查“四風(fēng)”，“四風(fēng)”指形式主義、官僚主義、享樂(lè)主義和奢靡之風(fēng)這四種不良風(fēng)氣。

A total of 155,300 violations against the eight-point frugality code had been investigated by the end of 2016, according to the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Among the violations, 78.2 percent took place in 2013 and 2014, cases took place in 2015 and 2016 accounted for 15.1% and 6.7 percent respectively, representing a marked decrease each year.

The CPC has also stepped up its fight against corruption, targeting both high-ranking "tigers" and low-level "flies."

As of the end of 2016, the CCDI had investigated 240 centrally administered officials, punishing 223. Disciplinary inspection and supervision departments across the country registered 1.162 million cases of corruption, punishing 1.199 million people.

In the past five years, the Party has also improved management and supervision of officials, adjusting the posts of 1,374 "naked officials" -- those above deputy department director level whose spouses and children reside abroad.

Eight-point frugality code
八項(xiàng)規(guī)定

緊盯年節(jié)假期，抓早抓小、串點(diǎn)成線(xiàn)，遏制“舌尖上的浪費(fèi)”、剎住“車(chē)輪上的腐敗”、整治“會(huì)所里的歪風(fēng)”……5年來(lái)，“八項(xiàng)規(guī)定”已成為婦孺皆知的政治語(yǔ)匯，在神州大地上蕩滌起一股激濁揚(yáng)清的凈化之風(fēng)，剎住了一些曾被認(rèn)為難以剎住的歪風(fēng)邪氣，攻克了一些曾被認(rèn)為司空見(jiàn)慣的頑瘴痼疾。

人們看到，天價(jià)月餅、粽子基本消失了，風(fēng)景名勝區(qū)里的會(huì)所少見(jiàn)了，價(jià)格畸高的名煙名酒得到了遏制，一些高檔酒店也推出了平民餐；干部普遍反映，應(yīng)酬少了，精氣神也飽滿(mǎn)了。廣大干部群眾在一個(gè)又一個(gè)細(xì)節(jié)、一件又一件的小事中感受到了切切實(shí)實(shí)的變化。

The eight-point frugality code, introduced by the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, aims to improve Party and government officials' work style.
八項(xiàng)規(guī)定由中共中央政治局出臺(tái)，旨在改進(jìn)黨員干部和政府官員的工作作風(fēng)。

Since it was adopted in December 2012, great efforts have been made by the Party to rectify undesirable work styles of formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance.
自2012年12月出臺(tái)八項(xiàng)規(guī)定后，黨中央下大力氣整治形式主義、官僚主義、享樂(lè)主義和奢靡之風(fēng)這四種不良工作作風(fēng)。

During the past five years, some 176,000 violations have been investigated, nearly 240,000 CPC officials punished, and around 128,000 officials subjected to disciplinary action, according to the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Since the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress in 2012, Party discipline inspections have purified the Party and improved the CPC's internal governance.
十八大以來(lái)，巡視工作凈化了黨員隊(duì)伍，加強(qiáng)了黨內(nèi)治理。

Since the congress, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee have held 23 meetings on inspections. The central leading group for inspection has held 115 meetings.

Inspectors also found problems of weak Party leadership.

Central inspectors have received nearly 1.6 million visits and letters from the public and talked with over 53,000 CPC members or members of the public for violation tip-offs.

Since the congress, the central inspection teams have made 59 reports to leading officials of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. The inspectors also transferred more than 9,400 cases of violations or clues to the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the CPC Central Committee's organization department or other authorities.
