“遺體”怎么說

話題未免悲傷了，不過，生老病死是人生常理。在向逝者的遺體告別時(shí)，想沒想過如何用英語表達(dá)“遺體”？請看《中國日報(bào)》一段有關(guān)國務(wù)院副總理黃菊逝世的新聞報(bào)道：
Vice-Premier Huang Ju's remains
were cremated in Beijing yesterday.
Huang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the
Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, died of illness at 2:03 am on
June 2 in Beijing at the age of 69.
報(bào)道中的“remains”指的就是“遺體”，“遺體火化”則可表達(dá)為“Sb's remains were cremated”。
通常情況下，“remains”表示“剩余物、殘余”，如：The remains of the meal littered the
table.（剩飯撒了一桌子。） 此外，“remains”還可用來指“殘骸、遺物”，如：the remains of an
aircraft（飛機(jī)殘骸），literal remains（遺稿）。
最后，再順便提一下“向遺體告別”?！案鎰e”一般用動詞詞組“to pay last respects to/to bid farewell
to”，但在該短語中，“遺體”一般用人指代，如：
Top leaders, including President and Party
General Secretary Hu Jintao, paid their final respects to Huang Ju yesterday at
the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery .（昨天，國家主席胡錦濤等中央領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人都前往八寶山革命公墓向黃菊的遺體進(jìn)行告別。）
或者，“向遺體告別”也可表達(dá)為“to bid farewell at the coffin”。
