當(dāng)?shù)貢r間12月22日晚，印度尼西亞巽他海峽附近的萬丹、楠榜省遭海嘯襲擊，造成重大人員傷亡。

A tsunami killed at least 227 people and injured hundreds around Indonesia's Sunda Strait following an underwater landslide believed caused by the erupting Anak Krakatau volcano, officials and media said on Sunday.
官方及媒體23日表示，發(fā)生在印度尼西亞巽他海峽的海嘯已導(dǎo)致至少227人死亡，數(shù)百人受傷，海嘯或由喀拉喀托火山噴發(fā)引發(fā)海底巖層滑坡引起。

Hundreds of homes and other buildings were heavily damaged when the tsunami struck, almost without warning, thousands of residents were forced to evacuate to higher ground.
海嘯襲來，毫無征兆，數(shù)百間房屋及建筑物被嚴重損毀，數(shù)千居民被迫撤離至地勢較高的地方。

專家稱，未來幾天如果本地區(qū)海底火山仍有爆發(fā)現(xiàn)象，并不能排除繼續(xù)出現(xiàn)海嘯的可能性（more tsunamis are possible）。

Tsunami（海嘯）其實是一個日語外來詞，讀作[tsu?nɑmi]，意為“津波”（harbour wave）。海嘯，是指一種具有強大破壞力的海浪（a series of waves of mass destruction）。海嘯主要分為4種類型，即由海底地震（underwater earthquake）引起的地震海嘯、火山爆發(fā)（volcanic eruption）引起的火山海嘯、海底滑坡（underwater landslide）引起的滑坡海嘯和大氣壓（barometric pressure）引起的海嘯。

Authorities warned residents and tourists in coastal areas around the Sunda Strait to stay away from beaches and a high-tide warning remained in place until Dec. 25.
政府部門提醒，巽他海峽沿岸地區(qū)的居民和游客遠離海灘，巨浪預(yù)警將一直持續(xù)到12月25日。

海嘯或由火山噴發(fā)引起

The tsunami is believed to have been triggered when the Krakatoa volcano erupted in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra, prompting a series of underwater landslides, according to Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geological Agency (BMKG).
印度尼西亞氣象、氣候和地球物理局表示，他們認為此次海嘯由巽他海峽內(nèi)的喀拉喀托火山噴發(fā)引起，導(dǎo)致海底巖層滑坡。巽他海峽位于爪哇島和蘇門答臘島之間。

When the displaced rock shifted beneath the water's surface, it pushed up the water on top of it and generated the tsunami.
海底巖層錯位推高了表面的海水，引發(fā)海嘯。

The tsunami's impacts were compounded by a tidal wave caused by the full moon, BMKG said in a news release.
印度尼西亞氣象、氣候和地球物理局在新聞通稿中表示，此次海嘯同時受到滿月導(dǎo)致的漲潮影響。
