最近，Karen這個名字在美國變得似乎特別招人恨。

社交媒體上，不斷能看到人們對Karen的嘲諷吐槽，仿佛Karen是過街老鼠一般：

今天也就才屏蔽了26個Karen吧，我得加把勁了。

Karen啥也不是，不信你去我上班的酒吧問問看，人人都這么說。

Karen們，老實在家呆著吧。

我再也受不了這些Karen了。希望老天讓我遇上一個，我不知道別人是怎么能忍住不發(fā)火的，我可不行。

所以，Karen到底是誰？怎么幾乎到了人人喊打的地步？

其中最著名的，就是那位紐約中央公園Karen了。一名黑人男子要求她拴住她的狗后，她出言不遜地報了警，還向警察捏造了罪名。

“克羅格卡倫”(Kroger Karen)以事發(fā)的連鎖超市命名的，她擋住了一位非洲裔美國母親的汽車，使其無法把車開出超市的停車場。

堪薩斯州立大學(xué)的Heather Suzanne Woods教授認(rèn)為:

“A Karen demands the world exist according to her standards with little regard for others, and she is willing to risk or demean others to achieve her ends.”

“Karen們要求世界按照她們的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)存在，很少考慮別人，她們愿意冒著風(fēng)險或貶低別人來達(dá)到自己的目的?！?/p>

雜志編輯Rachel Charlene Lewis認(rèn)同該解讀：

“A Karen sees no one as an individual, instead moving through the world prepared to fight faceless conglomerate of lesser-than people who won’t give her what she wants and feels she deserves.”

實際上，名字梗的玩兒法歷史悠久。

喬治亞理工大學(xué)的AndréBrock教授指出，在美國黑奴制度廢除之前，Miss Ann曾被用來指代那些想要對黑人施加權(quán)力的白人婦女。

在現(xiàn)代社會，隨著視頻行業(yè)發(fā)展，名字梗開始風(fēng)靡，比如Permit Patty和BBQ Becky。

在所有的名字梗中，Karen流傳最廣。

2017年，一名Reddit用戶在該平臺宣泄了對前妻Karen的不滿并設(shè)立標(biāo)簽，稱她在離婚過程中帶走了他的孩子和房子。之后，這個標(biāo)簽吸引了超過60萬粉絲，大家都在這里分享自己與中年白人婦女不愉快的經(jīng)歷。

In 2017, an anonymous Reddit user went viral on the platform after posting rants about ex-wife Karen, who he said had taken his children and their house during the divorce proceedings.

而美國真人秀嘉賓Kate Gosselin的發(fā)型則被網(wǎng)友用來豐富Karen人設(shè)。她的側(cè)分金色波波頭成為Karen的標(biāo)志，甚至有了對應(yīng)的表情包。

新冠病毒Karen

疫情期間，Coronavirus Karen被用來指代不配合戴口罩，社交距離等政策的中年婦女。她們熱衷于刁難工作人員，更是隨時隨地要求“speak to the manager”（和經(jīng)理談?wù)劊?/p>

Aggressively refusing to wear a face covering to help protect others from the virus has been seen as a new iteration of the stereotype of the entitled Karen who harasses service industry workers.

一名白人婦女因為不愿意戴口罩超過45分鐘而哭泣的視頻在網(wǎng)上瘋傳。

I don't feel good. I can tell you right now I wasn't getting enough oxygen.

我不舒服，此時此刻，我覺得缺氧。

I just want to cry. Because you can't see people's faces, you can't make human connection, we can't hug people, we can't hold their babies.

也有商家為了對付Karen們，在標(biāo)語上硬核喊話“Grow up Karen”。
