聯(lián)合國(guó)教科文組織4月23日在埃塞俄比亞首都亞的斯亞貝巴舉行頒獎(jiǎng)儀式，授予中國(guó)科學(xué)家喬杰、埃及科學(xué)家法拉杰和希臘科學(xué)家斯蒂利亞諾普洛斯三人“聯(lián)合國(guó)教科文組織—赤道幾內(nèi)亞國(guó)際生命科學(xué)研究獎(jiǎng)”，該獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)旨在獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)為提升人類生活質(zhì)量作出重要貢獻(xiàn)的杰出生命科學(xué)研究。

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced on April 23 that three scientists from China, Egypt, and Greece won the 2024 UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences. Qiao Jie of China, Mohamed Ali Farag of Egypt, and Triantafyllos Stylianopoulos of Greece received the awards for their outstanding contributions to improving the quality of human life through scientific research at a ceremony held in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.

當(dāng)前，新一輪科技革命和產(chǎn)業(yè)變革突飛猛進(jìn)，學(xué)科交叉融合不斷發(fā)展，科學(xué)研究范式發(fā)生深刻變革，科學(xué)技術(shù)和經(jīng)濟(jì)社會(huì)發(fā)展加速滲透融合，基礎(chǔ)研究轉(zhuǎn)化周期明顯縮短，國(guó)際科技競(jìng)爭(zhēng)向基礎(chǔ)前沿前移。應(yīng)對(duì)國(guó)際科技競(jìng)爭(zhēng)、實(shí)現(xiàn)高水平自立自強(qiáng)，推動(dòng)構(gòu)建新發(fā)展格局、實(shí)現(xiàn)高質(zhì)量發(fā)展，迫切需要我們加強(qiáng)基礎(chǔ)研究，從源頭和底層解決關(guān)鍵技術(shù)問題。

At present, a new round of sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation is advancing by leaps and bounds, interdisciplinary integration is growing, the paradigm of scientific research is undergoing profound changes, the integration of science and technology with economic and social development is accelerating, the application cycle of basic research is significantly shortened, and international competition in basic research is moving to the forefront. To cope with international sci-tech competition, achieve greater self-reliance, foster a new development pattern, and promote high-quality development, there is an urgent need to strengthen basic research and address key technologies from the source and from the bottom.
