 拐點(diǎn) turning point

自從金融危機(jī)爆發(fā)后，何時(shí)會(huì)出現(xiàn)“拐點(diǎn)”成為人們最關(guān)心的話題，不僅市場(chǎng)有“拐點(diǎn)”、股市有“拐點(diǎn)”，還有房?jī)r(jià)、政策等等都有“拐點(diǎn)”?！肮拯c(diǎn)”之說(shuō)，在08年是一個(gè)頗為熱門(mén)的話題。元旦之后，這個(gè)話題似乎有“風(fēng)云突變”之勢(shì)，反對(duì)“拐點(diǎn)”的議論開(kāi)始占了上風(fēng)。有人戲言曰：“拐點(diǎn)”之爭(zhēng)，在新年里出現(xiàn)了“拐點(diǎn)”。

他（香港瑞銀集團(tuán)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家喬納森·安德森）表示，由于在過(guò)去六周內(nèi)金融市場(chǎng)走勢(shì)平穩(wěn)，經(jīng)濟(jì)增長(zhǎng)不太可能繼去年第四季度后繼續(xù)下滑，今年上半年市場(chǎng)將出現(xiàn)拐點(diǎn)。
上面報(bào)道中提到的turning point就是指“拐點(diǎn)”?！肮拯c(diǎn)”本來(lái)是個(gè)數(shù)學(xué)名詞。學(xué)過(guò)高等數(shù)學(xué)的人都熟悉它，當(dāng)平面曲線經(jīng)歷從上凸至下凹或從下凹至上凸的分界點(diǎn)，此點(diǎn)便稱為“拐點(diǎn)”。通俗地講，就是我們常說(shuō)的“轉(zhuǎn)折點(diǎn)、契機(jī)”。例如：After joining the company, my career has had a very smooth development. It seems that this job-hopping is a turning point for me（我來(lái)到新公司發(fā)展得不錯(cuò)， 看來(lái)這次跳槽是我的一個(gè)轉(zhuǎn)折點(diǎn)）。This is a turning point in history.（這是歷史的轉(zhuǎn)折點(diǎn)）。
走出“拐點(diǎn)”，可以說(shuō)成是turn the corner，如：Time for dollar to turn the corner?（美元即將走出拐點(diǎn)？）經(jīng)濟(jì)形勢(shì)突然出現(xiàn)向上的“拐點(diǎn)”，還可以用turnaround來(lái)表示，如：The turnaround could not come at a better time（這是逆轉(zhuǎn)局勢(shì)的最佳時(shí)機(jī)）。
除了turning point外，在口語(yǔ)中，我們還經(jīng)常用a big break來(lái)表示“大轉(zhuǎn)折、大的突破”之意。如：When the star was taken ill, the understudy finally got her first big break（主角生病的時(shí)候，那個(gè)候補(bǔ)演員終于得到了第一個(gè)露臉的機(jī)會(huì)）。
