Thomas Markle told celebrity news website TMZ, at his home in Mexico, that he had decided not to attend his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry.

He is reported to have said that he did not want to cause his daughter embarrassment by attending the wedding.

托馬斯對TMZ網站表示，照片中的他看起來“愚蠢又做作（stupid and hammy）”，他感到很后悔。

梅根同父異母的姐姐薩曼莎稱自己才是“罪魁禍首”，她原本只是想幫助父親塑造積極形象。

She tweeted: "The media was unfairly making him look bad so I suggested he do positive photos for his benefit and the benefit of the royal family.

Those mooted to take over his role include Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, Prince Charles and Prince William.

Prince Charles, Meghan's future father-in-law, may be the most obvious choice to replace her father. But Prince William has spent more time with the bride and therefore may fit the bill, adding to his job as Prince Harry's best man.

作為梅根的準公公，查爾斯王儲可能是代替她父親的不二人選。但威廉王子和梅根相處更多，因此可能更符合要求，而他還是哈里王子的伴郎。

But Ragland is perhaps most likely to take on the task, given her particularly close relationship with her daughter.

The wedding will take place on 19 May at 12:00 BST at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
