With nearly 1.6 million 5G base stations, China now owns the largest 5G network worldwide, said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Tuesday. Zhang Yunming, vice-minister of the ministry, said China has the world's largest mobile broadband and optical fiber network, and the network quality has reached or even surpassed the levels of developed countries. Zhang said 5G has been applied to a wide range of sectors including transportation, medical care, education, culture and tourism, and the industrial internet has been applied in 45 categories of the national economy. The remarks were made at a forum held to celebrate World Telecommunications Day, which was Tuesday.

To promote a safe and steady resumption of production amid pandemic prevention and control, Shanghai set up a coordination mechanism for major projects, said Zhu Jianhao, deputy director of the Shanghai housing and urban-rural development committee. The first batch of 16 projects have resumed work, and eight are preparing to follow suit, Zhu said.

China put 581 kilometers of new railway lines into service in the first four months of the year, including 358km of high-speed railway, data from the China State Railway Group showed. The country saw 157.46 billion yuan in fixed asset railway investment during the period, up 0.6 percent year on year, according to the group.

>McDonald's confirms it will exit Russia

American fast-food giant McDonald's will exit the Russian market and sell its business, the company said Monday in a statement.
當(dāng)?shù)貢r(shí)間5月16日，美國餐飲連鎖公司麥當(dāng)勞宣布，該公司最終決定退出俄羅斯市場并出售其業(yè)務(wù)。

McDonald's said it is looking to sell its restaurants to a local buyer and would not allow the stores to use its name, logo, branding or menu, retaining its trademark in Russia. McDonald's in March closed all of its restaurants in the country.
