Astronauts could soon be eating seaweed soup and spicy, garlic-laden meat dishes after South Korea won approval to send several national dishes into space.

The science and technology ministry said a prestigious Russian laboratory has approved ready-to-eat bulgogi, bibimbap, seaweed soup and mulberry juice as suitable fare for astronauts.

Bulgogi is a flavoured beef dish and bibimbap is a mixture of rice, meat and vegetables, infused with chilli and garlic.

The ministry said the approval came this month from the Institute of Biomedical Problems, part of the Russian Academy of Sciences, following tests.

"The tests showed the foods helped improved digestion and allowed the growth of beneficial micro-organisms in the intestines," a statement said.

The move to send the dishes into space is the latest step in a campaign to promote South Korean food around the world.

South Korea has already sent its iconic national dish kimchi -- pickled cabbage soaked in chilli and garlic -- into orbit along with its first astronaut, aboard a Russian launch vehicle in April 2008. She shared the potent mixture with the crew of the International Space Station.

據(jù)韓國(guó)科技部介紹,俄羅斯一家聲望很高的實(shí)驗(yàn)室日前批準(zhǔn)速食韓式烤肉、石鍋拌飯、海帶湯和桑椹汁等食品進(jìn)入太空,認(rèn)為其適合宇航員食用。

韓式烤肉是一種調(diào)味牛肉餐,石鍋拌飯則以米飯、肉和蔬菜為原料烹飪而成,并加入辣椒和大蒜調(diào)味。

韓國(guó)科技部稱,俄羅斯科學(xué)院下屬的生物醫(yī)學(xué)問題研究所經(jīng)過測(cè)試后,于本月批準(zhǔn)這些菜肴進(jìn)入太空。

該研究所在一份聲明中稱:“測(cè)試結(jié)果表明,這些食物有助于改善消化,還能增加腸道內(nèi)有益微生物的數(shù)量?!?/font>

韓國(guó)一直致力于在世界各地推廣韓式料理,此次將特色菜肴送入太空也是推廣措施之一。

2008年4月,韓國(guó)首位宇航員搭乘俄羅斯運(yùn)載火箭飛往太空時(shí),已將韓國(guó)標(biāo)志性美食泡菜帶入太空。韓國(guó)泡菜味道濃烈,是在卷心菜中加入辣椒和大蒜腌制而成。當(dāng)時(shí)這名女宇航員還與國(guó)際空間站的所有宇航員一起分享了這道美食。
