The American University of Rome is proud to announce the inaugural session of The American University of Rome Summer Vocal Institute, from June 2 to June 28, 2014. The program will feature world renowned American mezzo-soprano opera singer Marilyn Horne as guest teacher from June 2 to June 7.

Every country has its uniquely wonderful cultural expressions. However, Italy today still captures historically the spirit of singing and of opera in everyday life. Opera has never become just a performing arts media in this country, but still in many ways mirrors Italian culture and Italian people as they truly are today, on and off stage – even after 400 years of its invention. It is what makes studying singing in Italy unique. The operatic stage is before you in the Renaissance paintings, in the Baroque architecture and in the Classical Mediterranean culture, innately Romantic.

The American University of Rome is committed to creating an intensely unique vocal musical experience in the Eternal City where the first operas were heard a stone’s throw away in Florence. It is in Italy that Art and Music come together naturally in a visual and musical symbiotic relationship before one’s very eyes.

Our vision is to enrich students with intense vocal singing instructions and coaching of both the song and operatic repertoire. Internationally acclaimed voice teachers and Italian coaches, combined with professional acting coaches, will provide individual musical care and stage craft skills to talented young singers and budding professional artists. Daily intense courses in the Italian language and diction for singers will be included, with the option of receiving college credit.

The program will also provide its participants with Participation in Master Classes with Guest Artists and Performances (arias and ensembles) in Concerts in various venues in the City of Rome.

Program Fee/課程費用
The tuition fee for the entire program is $5,000.00 including shared room accommodation, plus $40.00 enrollment fee.
